NDP MPP’s in northern Ontario want to hear from residents who have had problems with bears.
They’ve set up a website for people to report their experiences.
Kenora-Rainy River’s Sarah Campbell says it’s an effort to pressure the Liberal government into reinstating the Bearwise program.
Campbell says the province also needs to provide adequate funding for Ministry of Natural Resources staff to handle bear complaints instead of police.
She stresses cops shouldn’t be responsible for nuisance bear complaints.
Campbell notes the Liberals have created a “terrible situation” and is turning a blind-eye to the issue.
