Local MPP Reacts To Provincial Budget

The opposition is less than impressed with the provincial budget.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says the budget falls short of expectations and will increase costs for homeowners living in the unincorporated areas.

According to the budget, the maximum increase in 2015 in the provincial land tax will be $50.

Campbell is also critical of the decision to sell off 60% of Hydro One.

Campbell notes the move will only fund less than 3% of what is needed for transit.

She’s also not happy there was no mention of twinning Highway 17 between Kenora and the Manitoba boundary.

Campbell adds the budget falls short on several issues including health care, education, jobs and affordability.
