Local MPP Reflects Back On Summer Session

A very rare Summer sitting at Queen’s Park has come to an end.

The session ended Tuesday afternoon.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says a lot has been accomplished over the last month.

Rickford says the main highlight for him was passing his Urgent Priorities Act.

He notes that resulted in the closure of 758 green energy projects, resulting in more than $800-million in savings.

Rickford admits there will be some carry-over items to deal with this Fall. He says one priority will be scrapping the Cap and Trade Carbon Tax.

Rickford says additional legislation will be introduced to take them down the road of reducing hydro rates by at least 12%. He says he looks forward to returning to the riding and meeting with constituents.
