Local Reaction to Layton Announcement

Federal NDP candidate for the Kenora Riding Tania Cameron says Jack Layton is a fighter and he will win his latest fight with cancer.
Layton has temporarily stepped down as NDP leader after he was diagnosed with an unknown form of cancer.
Layton was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in February 2010.
Cameron notes this is not a set-back for her party as the NDP has a number of well seasoned MP’s who are sitting in the House.
Cameron says the Federal Council is meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday to discuss selection of interim leader and she plans on attending.
Meantime, Kenora-Rainy River NDP MPP Howard Hampton says his money in this fight is on Layton.
Hampton also calls the leader a fighter and a scrapper.
Hampton believes the latest Federal election campaign drained Layton’s energy and stresses he needs time to recover.
Both are wishing Layton a speedy recovery.
