Local Red Cross Better Prepared For An Emergency

The Canadian Red Cross in the Kenora and Rainy River districts has secured some new equipment in the event of a disaster or emergency situation.

The organization now has five rapid response trailers in various communities.

Disaster Management Coordinator Keri Rafter says the self-contained units are equipped with cots, blankets, generators as well as other essential items.

Rafter says the trailers can also be moved around the region where required.

They are stationed in Dryden, Ear Falls, Pickle Lake, Kenora and Thunder Bay.

Funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation helped the Red Cross acquire the trailers.
