Local Service Boards Get Provincal Funding

The Kenora District Services Board is getting over 2.4 million dollars from the province.

The money is to help battle homelessness in the area including housing solutions.

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced the funding Monday at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Convention.

Steve Clark says the money can be used for a variety of things like protecting homeless shelter staff and residents, adding to rent banks, and building affordable housing among other things.

The Rainy River District Services Board is getting 487 thousand dollars.
