Local Students Competing In Skills Ontario Event

A handful of local Grade 7 and 8 students are in Thunder Bay Tuesday for the Skills Ontario Cardboard Boat Races.

This year there is representation from Sioux Mountain Public School, Lillian Berg in Vermilion Bay and Ignace Public School.

Skills Ontario has been hosting the races for over 20-years, testing students ability to build a floating structure that will outperform others in speed and weight challenges.

It’s meant to encourage problem-solving, teamwork and creativity and get youth interested in a career in the skilled trades field.
