The Federal government is investing more than $2-million towards the Watay Power project in the Sioux Lookout area.
The money will support the Transmission Project Training Program.
Kenora MP Bob Nault made the announcement in Sioux Lookout Wednesday morning and he says the cash will provide more employment opportunities for Indigenous people.
The program provides the training required to find jobs in the energy sector.
Watay Power will oversee the construction of new 1,800 kilometre transmission lines connecting 17 remote First Nations to the provincial grid.
