44 residents of Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Ear Falls, Red Lake, Kenora and Fort Frances were recognized Thursday night for their continuous years of volunteering.
The province held an Ontario Volunteer Service Award ceremony in Dryden and Donna Gushulak of Ear Falls was honoured for 40-years of support for the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Gushulak says the Ear Falls chapter has helped the Red Lake chapter raise funds for hospital equipment and/or programs.
She says she enjoys her work and loves working and meeting new people as well as assisting health care initiatives in the community.
Fellow resident Ursula DeKeyser was recognized for 30-years with the Auxiliary.
Dryden Mayor Greg Wilson stresses volunteers are the heart and soul of any community.
Wilson says volunteers care about their community and other people but don’t seek any accolades.
