The Conservative government has introduced a bill to scrap the
long gun registry and says once it’s gone, it won’t help provinces
set up their own firearms registries.
The Tories argue the registration of rifles and shotguns is
wasteful and a needless intrusion into the lives of farmers,
hunters, sport shooters and other responsible gun owners.
But supporters have long argued it’s a useful tool for police who
use it daily to obtain crucial information.
