Long-term residents will soon be able to spend more time with friends and family.
Minister responsible Rod Phillips says the province is ready to ease restrictions.
Changes include:
-Residents can have outdoor visits of up to 10 people.
-All residents may have up to two general visitors and two caregivers for an indoor visit.
-Personal care services can resume.
-Cohorting of residents can be relaxed during outdoor activities.
Phillips says, “We’re giving the homes until July 7 so that they have the time to put in place these changes in a safe fashion. These changes are only possible because of the cooperation of all Ontarians, the incredible efforts of our long-term care staff, essential caregivers, and most importantly residents for getting vaccinated.”
He notes “As of today across Ontario, 99% of long-term care residents are fully immunized, more than 92% of long-term care staff have their first dose, while 84% have both doses.
Phillips also confirmed all visitor limits will be removed once we enter the final phase of Ontario’s Reopening Plan.
Stage 3 changes will also include:
-Permitting buffet and family style dining.
-Resumption of off-site excursions for residents.
-Resumption of activities such as singing and dancing.
