Environment Canada is out with a three point plan to address blue-green algae blooms on Lake of the Woods.
Dr. Veronique Hiriart-Baer says there is a heavy emphasis on research and testing.
She says they will also be monitoring the lake, looking at water quality conditions in various areas.
Hiriart-Baer notes they are trying to better understand the causes of algae, the different types, their life-span and impacts on nutrients in the lake.
She says all information will be collected and included in a long-term strategy.
The work is being funded by the federal government which has pledged $5.5-million over five years.
