The 2018 municipal election is fast approaching with the deadline to vote Monday at 8:00pm.
Incumbent Greg Wilson and former Mayor Roger Valley are in the running for Mayor in Dryden.
They recently took time to answer three questions from CKDR News.
Question #1: What are your priorities?
Greg Wilson: The City needs to stay on track with its financial recovery plan so they can gradually increase investments in our buildings, streets, recreational facilities, health care centres and senior services facilities.
Roger Valley: His goal is to balance debt payments with some investments back in our roads, streets, sidewalks, buildings and sewer and water.
Question #2: Where do you see the City in the next four years under your direction.
Greg Wilson: The downtown core should be revitalized. One of the big ways to do that is getting rid of some of their tax delinquent buildings that are empty or abandoned, noting they must be replaced.
Roger Valley: They will have a comprehensive plan in place to start maintaining municipal buildings and other structures so they don’t have leaking roofs and furnace failures.
Question #3: Why should we should elect you Mayor.
Greg Wilson: “I grew up here. My wife, four married kids and grandkids all live here now. We have a vested interest in the vibrancy, safety and the long term stability of the town”.
Roger Valley: “I would like to go back to the chair as Mayor. It’s something I enjoyed in the 90’s. I have the experience, the leadership skills and the passion. I will respect everyone’s opinions.
