LU Hopes To See More International Students

Lakehead University is facing a $10.6 million defecit in it’s 2016 budget because of a decline in their enrollment this year.

It’s due to the provincial government cutting the number of education students LU is allowed to have by half.

President Brian Stevenson says the school has been actively marketing themselves to potential learners in the greater Toronto area and overseas, but still expects to be in the red.

Stevenson says so far they have 650 foreign students, but he would like to see over a thousand attending classes here in Thunder Bay by 2017. (File photo)
