Lynn Beyak Kicked Out Of Conservative Caucus

Conservative Senator Lynn Beyak is back in the news.

The Dryden resident, who was under fire in 2017 for defending residential schools, has now published more than 100 “letters of support” on her individual Senate website.

Beyak says after her March 7th speech, “I received overwhelming support. Many people wrote me telling their personal stories and how going to a Residential School was a positive experience for them.”

“Those people feel that they acquired useful skills and benefited from recreational activities and sports”.

A Senate spokesperson says that’s her personal website and she is responsible for sharing content of her choosing.

Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler quickly took to Twitter to say “if our goal is reconciliation in this country, then we are a long ways away if we have a senior member of government posting materials like this.”

NAN has once again called for her resignation.

Meantime, Opposition leader Andrew Scheer has removed Lynn Beyak from the Conservative Caucus.

Scheer said in a statement that he asked Beyak to remove a ‘racist’ letter from her Parliamentary website regarding Indigenous people and she refused.
