Mae Grace Roberts
August 27, 1916 – June 5, 2012
On July 5, 2012 Mae Grace Roberts (nee Nelson), age 95, was finally able to board the train leaving from Princess Court to join her husband, John; Mom and Dad; and sisters, baby Martha, Elsie, Carla, Martha and Helen.
Mae is survived by her daughter, Lynda (Bob) of Sault Ste. Marie and sons, Wayne (Pam) of Saskatoon, Bill (Donna), Ken (Carol) and Keith (Annemarie), 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mae has lived in Dryden since her teenage years and was always so proud of Dryden. Enjoying life to the utmost Mae was always happiest when her family was around her. She loved having kids around and quite often there would be a knock on the door and some neighbourhood child asking if Mrs. Roberts could come out to play. A life-long hockey fan Mae could be seen at the arena watching her grandson’s play and was a loyal fan of Wayne Muloin, Chris Pronger, and of course, Swede Matts Sundin. She never missed a Dryden Rockets game and often gave out-of-town team members/coaches and referees a piece of her mind. Although she was a well thought of hairdresser, Mae’s dream was to be a kindergarten teacher. Mae was confirmed in the Dryden United Church in her teen years, and from that point on taught Sunday School and helped out in the nursery until well into her 70s.
If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There’s another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the river of life
Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separation come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore
Bye for now, Mom.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
