MAJOR Eastbound Detour

Weekend rains have forcing the closure of Highway 17 in 4 places making for a major detour for anyone headed east this morning beyond Thunder Bay.
The Cypress River overflowed between Nipagon & Schreiber with as many as 300 uprooted trees unding up in Nipagon bay.
MTO crews are working on repairing the damage but opp say it will be
late this evening at the earliest that the highway will re-open.
Drivers heading East will have to turn off at the 11/17 junction & take the northern route to continue their trip until further notice.
