Finally some encouraging news for Northwestern Ontario lumber
producers.
A NAFTA panel has ruled that softwood lumber from Ontario is not
subsidized and hundreds of millions of dollars in duties collected by the
U.S. should be returned.
Simply put, the U.S. Commerce Department has been ordered to exclude
Provincial producers from a countervailing duty.
The U.S. has 45 days to comply.
