Major News For Forest Industry And Ear Falls

Unifor and EACOM have reached a deal for the start-up of the Ear Falls Sawmill.
The new long-term labour deal will see almost 300-mill and woodlands jobs created.
Dryden Unifor Spokesperson Stephen Boon says the contract contains what may be some of the best language and compensation of any sawmill in Eastern Canada.
Boon says its a great moment for the union movement.
The key highlight of the deal is a 20-percent wage increase over 8-years.
Other highlights include a new pension plan, fully paid drug, dental, disability and health coverage, annual tool allowance for trades, and 1 additional stat holiday.
Boon says the Ear Falls Sawmill is scheduled to start-up in the spring of 2014.
