The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is warning travellers of some upcoming road work on Wellington Street from Fifth Avenue South to Front Street.
Construction will begin after the Victoria Day long weekend and is expected to last about four months.
Manager of Corporate Services Brian MacKinnon says they will be replacing watermains, installing new storm-water infrastructure and completing road and sidewalk upgrades.
MacKinnon says there will be travel disruptions and detours as a result.
He also says people who live around Wellington Street will still have access to their homes.
Here is a travel notice from the municipality:
-Northbound traffic on Highway 72, intending to access Sioux Lookout’s downtown core via Wellington Street, will be detoured at the Ed Ariano By-pass, through Alcona Drive and King Street, to access downtown.
-All traffic travelling north and westbound on Wellington Street beyond the Highway 72/Ed Ariano By-pass intersection will be “local traffic only” and Wellington Street north and west of Fifth Avenue will be closed.
