It’s something labour experts in northwestern Ontario have been stressing for years and now it’s being reinforced.
A new report says a skills gap in Ontario is costing the province more than $24-billion in economic activity.
Daniel Munro, co-author of the Conference Board of Canada report, says the province is losing out.
Munro says the province is also losing $4.1-billion through what he calls skills mismatch.
He notes more practical experience through internships or apprenticeships could help to alleviate the gap.
