The Dryden Chamber of Commerce has landed the big one.
The City has been selected to host the In-Fisherman Professional
Walleye Trail Pro Tournament, the premier walleye event in the United
States.
Economic Development Officer Vicki Kurz says hosting the event will
cost roughly $10,000.
Chamber of Commerce Chair Bill McKinstry negotiatied a 2-year contract
which includes a $192,000 media deal to market Dryden across
North America.
Local professional angler John Butts was instrumental in landing the
tournament and says its like hosting a PGA tour event.
The 3-day tournament is set for July 25th and will attract 120-anglers
and up to 1,000 spectators.
The elite event has never been held in Canada and will lead to major
economic spin-off’s.
