With the long weekend here and thousands heading out to the lake, the
Lifesaving Society of Canada is asking boaters to wear their lifejackets.
Executive Director Rick Haga says it’s foolish to think that keeping a
lifejacket in the boat, and not wearing it, will protect you.
About 95% of deaths could have been prevented if the boater
was wearing a personal flotation device.
Last year at this time, the body of a 41-year-old Illinois man was
pulled from Eagle Lake.
The man drowned after being thrown from a boat without a pfd.
