Man arrested after assaulting officer

A Sioux Lookout man has been arrested on a number of charges after police in the community responded to a man yelling and holding an edged weapon.

The incident occurred on Millar Crescent on Saturday around 2:30 p.m.

During the interaction the 36 year old assaulted one of the officers, this resulted in the deployment of a conducted energy weapon to subdue and arrest him.

He’s been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The accused remains in custody while he awaits a bail hearing set for an undisclosed date.
