Man Charged For Using Fake Currency

OPP have charged a Couchiching First Nation Man for using a fake $100 bill.

Police were called to investigate at the victims business where officers were able to quickly identify a suspect, thanks to the business’ surveillance equipment.

The 26 year old has been charged with using counterfeit money.

The accused is set to appear in court at a later date.

Businesses and members of the public are reminded of the following indicators of counterfeit money:

  • The bills are thick paper not polymer
  • The translucent plastic on these bills is actually just tape
  • Hash marks on the top right corner of the face side of the bill, or the corner may be just cut off
  • In all examples the maple leaf on the left side is not translucent or a hologram.
