A northeastern Ontario man has been slapped with a $2,000 fine for careless hunting in the Dryden area.
The hunter was caught last November after conservation officers responded to a complaint by a local resident about a deer that had been shot on their property without permission.
Court heard that Clinton Catlin, of South Porcupine, spotted the white-tailed deer in a fenced field while driving north on Glengoland Road, in Eton Township.
The man fired a shot, failing to realize that three adults and three children were working close by in the field.
Catlin has been banned from hunting for one year.
