Man Hospitalized Following Kitchen Fire

The Dryden Fire Service says tragedy was luckily averted in a kitchen fire Thursday night.

Crews were called to a one-storey First Street home around 8 o’clock.

A tenant of the home noticed the smoke and began to knock it down with a portable fire extinguisher.

Fire fighters then ventilated heavy smoke from the residence.

One man was transported to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Damage was limited to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the entire home.

Fire Chief Ken Kurz says a resident started cooking and left the pot unattended on the stove.

The home didn’t have a working smoke or carbon monoxide alarm and charges are pending.

Kurz notes this is the second serious cooking fire within ten days on First Street.
