Manhunt Over In Dryden

A roughly three hour manhunt in Dryden has come to an end.

Dryden Police say Derek John Kenny was apprehended downtown just before 10 o’clock this morning .

Police say Kenny was wanted for aggravated assault.

CKDR News was first contacted just before 7 o’clock of a heavy police presence near St. Joseph’s School and one resident on Elizabeth Street stated there was an incident an area home.

That prompted a massive search involving City Police and Provincial Police.

The SWAT team and K-9 Unit were also involved.

The search was then isolated to the downtown core, resulting in a lockdown of the area.

Police stated there was no danger to the public and schools operated as usual.

Buses and traffic were rerouted and businesses weren’t allowed to open.
