Manitoba Backs Down On Curfew For Now

The province of Manitoba won’t be instituting a curfew for the time being.

Premier Brian Pallister says the “Red”, or critical level in Winnipeg started on Monday, so they want to give the new COVID-19 restrictions a chance to work first.

Pallister says a survey of Manitobans indicated they didn’t want the province to use such an extreme measure at the moment.

“Manitobans have said to us, in great numbers, they would support a curfew if necessary but they prefer that we do other things that focus more effectively on the behaviours, the wrong-doings, first and foremost.”

Pallister says instead the government will focus on three key areas in the fight against COVID-19 including more enforcement, installing a tip line and targeted advertising.
