Signs reading “who killed Max Kakegamic” were carried through the
streets of Kenora Tuesday by members of North Spirit First Nation.
A letter has been submitted asking the Chief Coroner of Ontario to hold
an inquest into Kakegamic’s death 5 years ago.
Anishnawbe Peace and Justice Coalition Spokesperson Mary Alice Smith
says a fund has been set up to help the family to hire a pair of lawyers.
Money is also being collected to cover traveling expenses for the
family.
Smith says the family wants justice and closure.
