March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and the Dryden Area Family Health Team is doing its part.
Director Catherine Campbell says they have information booths set up around the facility promoting screening for people over the age of 50.
Campbell says if colon cancer can be detected early enough, there’s a 90% chance it can be cured.
However, Campbell notes that Ontario has one of the highest rates of colorectal cancer in the world, and stresses its important to talk about the issue.
The National Cancer Institute of Canada states that colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer, and is the second deadliest form of cancer.
