Marjorie Ellen Marie Elliott Reid
August 7,1916 – July 16,2007
Marjorie passed away peacefully on July 16, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by daughters Sheila Lindsay and Leslie Michalak, grandchildren Christy and Marnie Michalak, sister Ruby Milanese, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Gordon and son-in-law Mark. Marjorie was born in Cobden, Ontario on August 7th, 1916. Most of her childhood and teenage years were spent on farms in Ontario and California. She married Gordon Reid in1939 in Dryden, where they made their home for many years. She was a stay at home Mom, but in her “empty nest” years she proudly embarked on a new career as a bookkeeper at the Pharmacy, working for Geri and Grant Fumerton. She had a deep faith, which carried her through the difficult times. She was an active member of the United Church, and over the years supported the United Church Women, choir and other church activities. She especially enjoyed nature and the years at the cottage. She was an expert calligrapher, avid reader, bridge player and loved doing crossword puzzles. During her illness, her courage was an inspiration to her family. A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 20th at 11:00 a.m. in First United Church with Pastor Greg McKee officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a late date. If friends so desire donations may be made to the First United Church Memorial Fund or the Dryden Regional Health Centre CT Scan Fund through the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel” P.O.
