Mary Stark

In loving memory of Mary Stark, nee (Fairall), who peacefully, surrounded by love, passed away July 16, 2013 in the Dryden Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her parents Siiri and Frank Fairall; brothers Jack, Leslie Sr., William Fairall and grandson Kevin Kupper.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Harry of 64 years; three children, daughter Beverly (George) Kupper of Waldhof, Ontario, son Brian (Jackie) Stark of Ancaster, Ontario and daughter Carol-Ann (Nello) Cataldo of Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Kristy, Erika (Jeff) Cox, Evan, Serena, Michael (Tori) and two great-grandchildren, Cearra and Damien; nephew Leslie Jr. (Deb) Fairall and family of Pass Lake, Ontario and sisters Helen Dettmer, Betty McKinnon, Beatrice (Ken) Stadey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was a very special woman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary met her husband Harry, while working as a cook in a bush camp. Her love of cooking and baking lasted her whole life. It was not unusual for her to whip up a batch of homemade bread and then send Poppy out to buy bread for their supper, as she had given all her loaves away. She was famous for feeding the neighbours and the dogs in the neighborhood. She also had a pet chipmunk that she fed out of her hand, and a tame fox Susie whom she adored. The deer were always feeding in the backyard and she loved animals of all kinds, wild or tame. Gia and Rambo loved to visit Nanny and would always get lots of love and treats from her. She was a good friend to all and was kind and caring. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Doctor Gagnon, Doctor Cortens and the compassionate and caring nurses who cared for Nanny at the Dryden and Thunder Bay Regional Hospitals.

A viewing will take place at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 7-9:00pm and a memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary, will be held on Saturday August 24, 2013 at 2:00pm at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Dryden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Chance Pet Network, St. Luke’s Church or the Waldhof Hall. A precious life, a beautiful memory, love you forever.
