Mathers-Westnile #2 (Has Clips)

The Northwestern Health Unit is starting to collect dead

birds in the Kenora area for testing of the west nile virus.

Environmental health officer Al Mathers says the season

is just beginning.

He adds despite the Northwest region being at low risk of

hosting westnile, area residents still need to take

precautions.

Mathers stresses to keep gutters and buckets around the

house free of pools of water, which is a mosquito breeding

ground.
