May Thelma LeJeune

In loving memory of May Thelma LeJeune, age 86 of Dryden, who passed away on Monday January 2nd , 2012 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

May is survived by her husband Aurel, son Real, sisters Edna Gurney, Ruth Cutbush, Marlene Scully and brother John Appel. She is predeceased by her parents, John & Rose, step-mother Elizabeth, son Dale, brothers: Ronald Kakko, Raymond Appel, Lenard Appel, Ernest Appel, and sisters Dorothy Lupien, Betty Witzell, Carol O’Grady.

After her discharge from the C.W.A. C., she worked in bush camps as a cook, then chef. She met Aurel in the early 1950’s and they were married in 1953 and moved to Dryden in 1959. May worked at the Brite Spot Café for many years, than at the Dryden Hotel. In 1967. they opened May’s Café.

She joined the Canadian Legion in 1958 and was very active for many years. May loved to travel, and they traveled across Canada many times. They spent six winters in Mesa, Arizona. Her final years were spent here in Dryden playing Cribbage at the Legion and the Senior Centre.

There will be no Visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 6th, 2012 at

10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Al Campeau

officiating. Followed by a Legion Service.

A private family interment will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memoriam donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion through the Dryden Community Funeral Home 249 Grand Trunk Ave. Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
