Mayor Craig Nuttall Announces Resignation

Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall says the time to step away is now and he will be quiting at the end of the month.

Nuttall announced his decision Tuesday morning and cited personal reasons for his decision.

He stresses he leaves with mixed emotions, but notes a person has to look at the future and decide what they really want to do.

Nuttall believes he leaves the City in good hands with a new CAO and Treasurer and better books.

He also points to the funding he was able to secure for Duke Street, Highway 17, water-main upgrades, the underpass and other key infrastructure.

There have been visual signs of frustration and at times division at recent Council meetings and Nuttall says that come into play to a certain extent.

He notes there’s always times people at the table won’t see eye to eye on the future vision of the community and says his main priority has always been looking after the taxpayers and making sure they do the work that they need and not want they want.

Martin MacKinnon is the Deputy Mayor and will take over on an interim basis until Council can meet to address the vacancy.
