Mayor Wants to See More Rest Stops and Signs

The Mayor of Dryden is calling for various upgrades to Highway 17
following a rash of crashes on the Trans-Canada.
6-people have died this month in 3-seperate crashes from Kenora to
Upsala.
Anne Krassilowsky says the issue was discussed with Provincial
officials last week in Ottawa.
Krassilowsky says more fully serviced rest stops are needed.
She says portions of the road also need to be reconstructed
and electronic signs need to be erected to warn motorists of animals, road
conditions and weather.
Public complaints have also piled up over the length of time it
takes to reopen the Highway following a fatal collision.
