Mayors of Kenora and Machin seeking re-election

The mayor of Kenora is seeking a second term in office.

Andrew Poirier has filed his nomination papers.

So far, he is the only person running for mayor.

Meanwhile, the mayor of the Municipality of Machin is also running again.

Gord Griffiths filed his nomination papers last week.

He feels there is still some unfinished business he wants to complete.

“There are some things that haven’t gotten done yet that I would like to see them move further before I retire,” Griffiths states in a recent interview.

“I need one more term anyway to get these things done. It’s more a feeling a responsibility. I guess you’re trying to get the municipality prepared for the years ahead. The ice plant (at Woodland Arena), for example, we should be good for at least 30 years.”

Griffiths has already served two terms as mayor of Machin.
