Medical Officer of Health Calls for Change

The Northwestern Health Unit is requesting a meeting with the new Minister of Health George Smitherman to discuss some of their concerns.
The Liberal Government has indicated that it wants to strengthen the system, but Medical Officer of Health Dr. Pete Sarsfield says that committment needs to be backed up with more money for Provincial Health Units.
Sarsfield says he’d like to see the Government ease the financial burden on Municipalities.
Dr. Sarsfield says only 2 cents of every dollar spent in this Region goes to public health, compared to 5 cents 25 years ago.
