Medical School Key For Health Transformation

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine believes it can play a key role in transforming the health care system in our region.

The Ontario Medical Association released a 12-point action plan this past week for the government to adopt.

Dean Dr. Sarita Verma says they have a rich history and a bright future.

Dr. Verma says the school has been successful in attracting new professionals since its inception in 2005.

She adds they are set to become Canada’s first free-standing medical university.

Dr. Verma says the school has graduated almost 800 physicians and nearly 700 residents.

She notes they have been able to connect roughly 250,000 people with a family doctor since the beginning.
