Medical School Partnering With U Of M

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the University of Manitoba are breaking new ground.

Catherine Cervin is the Medical School and says they have signed a deal with the U of M to allow medical students from the northwest do a residency program in Winnipeg.

Cervin notes part of the agreement means the students must do their placement in northwestern Ontario.

She believes it makes sense since it will help communities in the region attract medical students who will have a connection to both Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

Cervin explains the door is also open for future collaborations on medical research.
