Melillo urging feds to contribute to highway twinning

The MP for the Kenora Riding wants the federal government to cough up some money for the twinning of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Kenora.

Construction work started in the winter thanks to funding from the provincial government.

Eric Melillo rose in the House of Commons on Thursday saying the Ontario and Manitoba government’s already support this project but the only missing piece is the federal contribution.

He adds that we have lost too many lives along the Trans-Canada highway in Northwestern Ontario which is why the Conservatives have been calling for its twinning for years.

He adds that a previous Conservative government under Stephen Harper committed 50 million dollars to the twinning way back in 2009.
