The federal government needs to be doing more to help Canadians dealing with the high cost of gasoline and high inflation rates.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says the Conservatives introduced a motion last week which was voted down in the House of Commons.
“If this passed it would have temporarily suspended the carbon tax and as well as eliminated the GST paid on fuel, just to try to provide some relief to Canadians and support people given how high inflation is getting,” says Melillo.
Melillo says the federal government doesn’t seem to be willing to do anything to make life more affordable for ordinary Canadians.
“It’s certainly frustrating. I think what we proposed were both practical measures…pragmatic measures to try to find some solutions that would support Canadians and I think that its unfortunate that the other other parties let their tax and spend ideology get in the way of that.”
Melillo admits it is frustrating the government is ignoring their practical and pragmatic measures to lower fuel costs.
