The new MRI is Sioux Lookout is getting close to going live.
The MRI has gone through commissioning, which includes installation, and calibration.
The Meno Ya Win Health Center says they want to make sure it complies with all technical, safety and operational requirements.
The next stage is more staff training and final operational readiness activities.
Dean Osmond is the president of Meno Ya Win this is an exciting and meaningful milestone for the hospital.
“Every stage of this project brings us one step closer to providing MRI services right here in Sioux Lookout, reducing the need for many patients to travel to Thunder Bay or Winnipeg for diagnostic imaging,” says Osmond.
“This is a transformational investment in health care for the north, and we are incredibly grateful to the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Northern Development, our partners, and the many donors who supported the SLMHC Foundation’s MRI campaign.
Meno Ya Win estimates the new MRI will be able to scan patients this fall.
