Microsoft Scam Hits Region

Another scam has struck the area and at least one person has already fell victim to it.
It’s called the Microsoft Service Centre Scam.
Someone claiming to be from Microsoft is calling residents advising them of the need to update their computer virus program.
The caller will ask to gain control of your computer and will attempt to install the software.
They will quote a cheap price but the victim will be billed nearly $300.
The hacker will also gain the ability to access financial and personal information.
An Oxdrift resident was burned by the scam this week.
