A National advocacy group is lending its support to local business
owners who are concerned about the financial impacts connected to a blanket
smoking ban that comes into effect next year.
Mychoice.ca President Nancy Daigneault has obtained Government
documents that state the Province stands to lose as much as $350 million a year in gaming revenue.
Daigneult says a smoking ban will mean smokers will stay away from
charity bingos and other establishments in droves.
She adds the Government failed to release the financial
information during debates last year.
She says local taxpayers deserve to know how the Government
plans to cover the shortfall.
