Minaki Area Fire Update

Highway 596 has reopened because a forest fire has been brought under control.
It has been closed for more than a week because the fire near Minaki jumped the road in several places.
MNR Information Officer Dave Jackson says some access routes remain closed, but he says residents of Catherine Lake and Catastrophe Lake are being allowed to return home.
The fire destroyed 5 cabins, several boats and more than 4 1/2 square kilometres of forest.
