Miners Can’t Jump Into First Place Tie; Ice Dogs Neutralized In Thief

A postponment of the Thunder Bay North Stars/Minnesota game due to bus issues for the Iron Rangers gave Red Lake the perfect opportunity to move into a first place tie in the SIJHL standings Saturday night.

However, the Fort Frances Lakers had other ideas, playing the role of spoiler in a 5-3 win in Cochenour.

Zach WIllms stopped 34-shots in the loss.

In Thief River Falls, the Dryden GM Ice Dogs were shutdown in Thief River Falls 4-1.

The Ice Dogs could only muster 21-shots on the Norskies net.

Trey Palermo scored the lone goal.

Jacob Anthony made 31-saves in his season debut.

The rematch is Sunday at 5:00pm.
