Miners Score Late To Upset Ice Dogs

Alex Maticic handcuffed Tate Sproxton with 43 seconds left as the English River Miners skated to a 6-5 win Saturday night against the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.

The winner was his second of the game.

Dominic Blouin, Mark Dryer, Jarett Day and Lucas Toth also found the back of the net for the Miners who at one point led 3-0 in the first on three power-play goals.

Matt Houston and Jonathan Philley both scored two for the Ice Dogs.

Nick Prouty added another one.

In other SIJHL action, the Fort Frances Lakers held off Minnesota 5-4.
