Mining Dispute Continues on KI First Nation

Some of the parties involved in the on-going mining dispute on Big Trout Lake First Nation are speaking out against the Provincial Government.
Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo is urging the Liberals to consult with the Northern First Nation on a land use plan.
Exploration company Platinex claims the Government is fueling tensions between the two sides and notes the KI First Nation isn’t prepared to discuss solutions.
Platinex is trying to resume mining activity near the community under the authority of a 2007 court order.
The Aboriginal community continues to be opposed to such activity.
